Icron's USB Ranger™ family of products enables USB peripherals to be
placed wherever users need them, up to 330 feet from a host computer.
The USB Ranger™ provides full compliance with the USB 1.1 specification and supports all USB benefits, including remote device powering, plug and play, and increased bandwidth. Icron's products use standard Category 5 UTP cable (the same wiring
used in Ethernet).
The USB Ranger™ 100 single port series supports 1 low-powered device or 1 high-powered device such as a web cam. The USB Ranger™ 410 4 port series supports up to 4 low-powered
devices, such as printers, scanners, mice and hubs. This unit will
support up to 4 high-powered devices when the AC adapter is placed on the
REX (receiver) end.
Configurations USB Ranger™ products have two separate units: the Local Extender (LEX) and the Remote Extender (REX). Conventional USB cables are used to connect the LEX to the host computer and to connect one or more remote USB devices to the REX. The LEX and REX units are connected by Category 5 UTP cabling that can be up to 330 feet long. |
ExtremeUSB™
technology enables USB peripherals to be placed wherever users need them,
up to a 330 feet distance from a host computer. With ExtremeUSB™, peripheral
devices function as if they are within the accepted USB protocol distance
for communicating with the computer.
Icron's communications protocol preserves standard USB functionality and timing restrictions while accommodating the increased cable delay incurred in extended range transmissions. |
